Double by Dave Wright
Saturday, December 13, 2014
7pm – 10pm
1022 W. Grand Ave, Phoenix AZ
The Lab Pop-Up Gallery on Grand Avenue will feature local painter and photographer, Dave Wright, in their upcoming community art exhibition. The show, titled ‘Double,’ will kick off on Saturday, Dec. 13, and will include both distinctive paintings and photographs by the artist. The show’s theme of multiples will be seen not only in the two different approaches, but in the work itself. Figures painted as conjoined twins, supernumerary features on faces, and heads or limbs on bodies, are just a few examples. Wright’s paintings and photographs of isolated figures will be presented with an emphasis on form, both real and distorted.
Born and raised in Phoenix, Wright began painting, working at an art gallery, and taking courses in graphic design and photography in high school. His college studies included drawing and painting from life, an interest that he also pursued outside of the classroom. After a few years of focusing on painting, a freelance design job brought him back to his passion for photography.
All artwork featured will be open to the public for sale. Community artists interested in serving as a monthly spotlight artist at The Lab Pop-Up Gallery may contact Monica Robles at email@example.com.
Admission is FREE –live music and light refreshments will be available.
